Design and Communication Graphics funding letter issued.

Details on the purchasing process available for use in the procurement of computer hardware for Design and Communication Graphics was sent to schools by the Building Unit of the Department of Education and Science on March 28th.

Following a tendering process a recommended desktop (Precision 390 customised for CAD) is available for order from Dell - An ordering weblink will be active by April 6th on www.t4.ie A 1800 telephone order line will also be active by this date. A hardcopy of the order document will be in schools by April 16th if this is preferred. The Precision 390 with firewire card, Microsoft XP Professional, Microsoft Learning Suite and SolidWorks pre loaded with one year anti-virus protection + delivery will cost €1,091.23.

Recommended laptops will be available for order from April 16th. Similar ordering options will be available. Ordering information and links will be hosted on www.t4.ie as soon as they are live.

This letter announced additional funding for the provision of furniture and the general set up of the classroom. This has been allocated on a parallel banded structure to the initial allocation. The amounts are €900, €1700, €2400, €3000 and €3600 respectively. This extra allocation will be added to and forwarded with, the remaining 20% of initial funding still to issue.

€1030 has been added to each schools allocation to cover the cost of the Parametric CAD software. This will also be added to the 20% balance of the initial funding still to issue.
